Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, a physicist, Verkhovna Rada member, and lead singer of a popular rock band in Ukraine, visited Yale University in March 2015. He engaged in a Q&A session with students and faculty, sharing his personal views and those of younger people in Ukraine. Vakarchuk expressed ambivalence about Ukraine joining the EU, believing that the country is not yet ready. However, he supported the Euro-Maidan protests and Western values. He also emotionally described witnessing the violence on the Maidan.
